This page has two parts: the Terms of Service, which are the rules for using Kovalent, and the Privacy Policy, which explains how we handle your personal data. By creating an account you agree to both.
Terms of ServicePrivacy Policy
Kovalent is an AI-powered academic workspace for Nigerian university students. It is operated by Kova Digital Technologies Ltd, a company registered in Nigeria and also known as KOVA Technologies ("we", "us", "our"). You can reach us at support@kovalent.cloud.
By creating an account or using Kovalent, you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy below. If you do not agree, please do not create an account or use the platform.
Kovalent is built for university students and is for people aged 18 and over. You must be at least 18 to create an account, and by signing up you confirm that you are. You must give accurate information when you sign up and keep it up to date.
You are responsible for keeping your password private and for everything that happens under your account. Do not share your account or let someone else use it. You can see the devices signed in to your account and sign them out from Settings. If you think your account has been compromised, change your password and contact us straight away.
Kovalent has a Free plan and paid plans (currently Premium and Pro). The current prices, allowances and features of each plan are shown on the Plans page inside the app, and prices are in Nigerian naira.
Each plan includes an AI allowance measured in tokens. A token is a small piece of text that the AI reads or writes, so longer questions, longer answers, longer chats and uploaded material use more of your allowance. Allowances are set per time window and per day, and you can see how much you have used in the app. When you reach a limit, AI features pause until the allowance resets.
Please use the AI for your own studies. Do not use scripts or automated tools to send requests, do not resell access, and do not try to get around the limits.
We may give some users VIP status, which can include a VIP badge, early access to new tools, and sometimes Pro access for a period. VIP status and early access are granted at our discretion. They are not something you can buy and they are not part of a paid plan. We may change or remove them at any time. Tools in early access are still being tested, so they may change, stop working, or be removed.
Kovalent's AI tools (summaries, quizzes, study planning, past-question help and Q&A) are powered by Google's Gemini AI. When you use them, the text, questions or files you provide are sent to Google to generate a response. Please avoid sending highly sensitive personal information that is not needed for your coursework.
AI-generated content can be wrong or incomplete. It is there to support your learning, not to replace your lecturers, your textbooks or your own judgement. Always check important information yourself, especially before an exam or a submission deadline. You are responsible for following your institution's rules about the use of AI in coursework.
You own the notes, assignments, files and other content you create or upload. You give us permission to store, process and display it as needed to run Kovalent for you, including sending it to our service providers (such as the AI and file storage providers listed in the Privacy Policy). You confirm that you have the right to upload what you share.
You agree not to:
We may suspend or close an account that breaks these Terms or puts other users or the platform at risk. You can delete your own account at any time from Settings. Deleting your account is permanent. Your courses, notes, assignments and other data cannot be recovered afterwards, and a paid plan that is still running is lost without a refund.
We work to keep Kovalent reliable, but we do not promise it will always be available, fast, or free of errors. We are still building the platform, and features may change. AI features depend on third-party services and may be slow or temporarily unavailable.
Kovalent is provided "as is". To the fullest extent allowed by Nigerian law, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, for loss of data you did not back up, or for results that come from relying on AI-generated content. Nothing in these Terms removes any right you have under Nigerian law that cannot be excluded. We recommend keeping your own copy of important academic work.
The Kovalent name, logo, design and software belong to Kova Digital Technologies Ltd. These Terms do not give you any right to use them except to use the service as intended.
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. If we have a disagreement, please contact us first so we can try to sort it out. If it cannot be resolved, the courts of Nigeria have jurisdiction.
We may update these Terms as Kovalent grows. When a change is important, we will tell users in the app or by email where practical. If you keep using Kovalent after a change takes effect, you accept the updated Terms.
Kova Digital Technologies Ltd decides how and why your personal data is used on Kovalent, which makes us the data controller under the Nigeria Data Protection Act 2023 (NDPA). For any privacy question or request, contact support@kovalent.cloud.
We do not sell your personal data. We do not use it for advertising.
When you use an AI feature, we send the text, questions and files needed for that request to Google's Gemini service, together with our own instructions to the AI. We do not use your content to train our own AI models.
Kovalent can also use details from your profile to make AI answers fit you better, for example your level, course, goals and learning style. This is optional and only works if you turn it on in your settings. When it is on, a short summary of those details is added to your AI requests. You can turn it off at any time.
We use trusted service providers to run Kovalent. They only get the data they need to do their job:
We may also share data when the law requires it, or to protect the rights and safety of our users and of Kovalent.
Some of these providers store or process data outside Nigeria. When your data is transferred abroad, we rely on providers that apply appropriate safeguards, as the NDPA requires.
We keep your data while your account is open. When you delete your account from Settings, your courses, notes, assignments, files and other content are deleted. We may keep a record of payments you made for as long as accounting, tax or dispute-handling needs require. Copies in our providers' backups, if any, are removed on their normal schedule.
We protect Kovalent with encrypted passwords, secure connections, protection against repeated failed sign-ins, session controls that let you sign out other devices, and security monitoring. No online service can be completely risk-free, so please use a strong password that you do not use anywhere else.
Under the NDPA you have the right to:
To use any of these rights, email support@kovalent.cloud. We will reply as quickly as we can and within any time limit the law sets. If you are not happy with how we handle your data, you can complain to the Nigeria Data Protection Commission.
Kovalent is only for people aged 18 and over. We do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone under 18. If you believe someone under 18 has created an account, please contact support@kovalent.cloud and we will delete the account and its data.
If a security incident puts your personal data at risk, we will tell the people affected and the Nigeria Data Protection Commission within the time the law requires, and explain what happened and what to do.
We may update this Privacy Policy as Kovalent changes. The date at the top shows when it was last updated, and we will tell you about important changes where practical. Questions about your data or about these Terms can be sent to support@kovalent.cloud.
Thank you for trusting Kovalent with your academic work. We built this for students, and your feedback genuinely shapes what we build next.
